What our Foster Carers say

You Can Foster 1

We asked several of our foster carers to tell us why they foster for us.

"""I had always thought about fostering as I had family who had fostered. But it wasn't until I looked after some of their foster children for the day I really enjoyed it, that I made up my mind to look into fostering. Being single hasn't stopped me fostering, I've got a good support network of friends and other foster carers. The best part of fostering is bringing children out of themselves, seeing them grow up into young ladies, there is no greater reward."

"Many people think that fostering is for the older generation but its not. I was brought
up in a fostering household and always knew we'd foster one day. We initially came into fostering as respite carers for a young person and then we moved on to become her
full-time carers. We really enjoy fostering, it gives us a great sense of achievement, helping a child to make progress, advocating for them and seeing them get the support they need."

"We have fostered over 50 children throughout our fostering career, Gaye-and-Mikesome short-term, some long-term and also emergency and respite placements. We have loved helping to support children to turn their lives around and achieve their potential. Some of our former
foster children still keep in touch and come and visist us and let us know how they are getting on. It's great to put smiles back onto their faces."
