What support and opportunities will I receive?

  • You will have your own Social Worker who will visit on a regular basis, and who will support and advise you.
  • You will receive an allowance when a child is placed with you to cover the cost of caring for the child.
  • You will receive bedroom furniture and equipment, if required, relevant to the child’s needs
  • Monthly Support Groups are held in different locations throughout the County where there will be an opportunity for you to meet other Foster Carers.
  • You will be expected to attend ongoing Post Approval Training throughout your Fostering career.
  • You will have a meeting each year which looks at the work you have done during the proceeding 12 months. This is known as your Annual Review.
  • Staffordshire operates a ‘Payment for Skills’ scheme which recognises and financially rewards Carers development of their skills.
  • You will have the opportunity to attend social events with other Carers throughout the year.
  • You will have the opportunity to undertake NVQ Level 3 in Social Care if you wish to do so.
