Most children do better in families than in children's residential homes. Children need to have a positive experience of family life.
Why can't they live with their families?
- Children are sometimes removed from their families on the court's direction to protect them from physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect or emotional abuse.
- Young people have to leave their families at the direction of the Courts because of their offending behaviour.
- Occasionally parents require care for their children due to illness, family breakdown or behavioural difficulties.
