You would need to show an understanding of the needs of a child who has been separated from their family.
People who can work as part of a team.
You will be expected to work closely with professionals from a wide range of services including Children’s social work teams, school and health professionals.
People who can ask for, and use support.
You will have your own fostering social worker who will offer you support, advice and supervision
People who are prepared to learn.
You will be required to attend a preparation course prior to your approval as a foster carer. You will also be expected to continue your professional development by working towards achieving the certificates of successful completion of the Children's Workforce Development Council, Training, Support and Development Standards for Foster Carers.
