At every stage in the adoption process we have to prioritise our work according to the needs of children. There are very few healthy white babies needing adoptive families. When applicants are only able to consider a very young child priority is given to applicants who pay their council tax to Staffordshire.
The actual children waiting changes from day to day. We hold Profile meetings where we feature children who need families. You may be invited to attend these once you are approved.
There is always a shortage of families for sibling groups, older children (5 plus), children with disabilities or with developmental uncertainty and for children with other specific needs for example children from ethnic minority backgrounds
