What is Adoption Post Box?

It's a service provided to help keep the link alive between an adopted child and their birth family through a regular exchange of letters.
The agreement is between the adults: the adoptive parents and the birth relatives write to each other. The children may be directly included if they or their adoptive parents feel its right for them.
All addresses are kept confidential and all correspondence is screened by the Adoption Support service
It allows the children to be informed about changes in the lives of their birth family.
And it allows the birth family to know about the child's well-being and progress.

Who can use the Adoption Post Box?

At the time of the adoption proceedings it will agreed who are the significant people in a child's life
Only those who have a signed agreement however……
If you were not able to sign an agreement at that time, but due to a change in circumstances, you would like to be included please contact the Adoption Post Box at the following address and we can look in to the possibility for you.

And ...

As a birth parent you may not have been able to take up the offer of the Post Box since your child was placed and several years have passed. If your life has changed so that you feel able to see if there is any post waiting for you, please contact the Post Box service, giving your current address and phone number along with the full birth name of your child.

Whenever you leave a message, please remember to tell us the birth name of your child/ren.

If you are adoptive parents, we will send Post box to you automatically when we receive it providing it is around the time it is due.
