Intensive fostering is an alternative to a custodial sentence.
Intensive foster carers must have experience of caring for children and young people over ten years of age. The child must be the only child in placement with no other dependent children at home. If part of a couple, then one of you should be available as a full time carer.
You will receive intensive support on a daily basis from a multi-disciplinary team including psychologists and social workers. The scheme operates daily monitoring of the progress of the placement.
Regular respite is available. The training is based on the Oregon Social Learning Centre model of Multi-dimensional foster care.
Additional out of hours support to that already provided by the Emergency Duty Service are available to intensive foster carers.
