We welcome interest from everybody irrespective of race, culture, and disability or if you are lesbian or gay.
Your Current Family Situation
You do not have to have children of your own. If you have children we would be looking to ensure that there was sufficient space for all the children. You will need a spare bedroom to be able to foster and it may not be appropriate for foster children to share a bedroom.
Age
Any age may be considered although a reasonable level of maturity and life experience will be required.
Health
You will have to have a full medical examination. Staffordshire will not place children under the age of 5 in a household where anybody smokes. This is to safeguard the child's health.
Relationship Status
You can be married, in a civil partnership, single or living with a partner. If you are in a partnership it is essential that both of you are involved and committed to fostering. Your relationship needs to be established and secure.
Employment
You can be employed or unemployed, although we would expect your work commitments to be flexible in order to meet the needs of the child.
We do need to know that you are financially secure.
Criminal Offences
There are certain criminal offences that would prevent you from being approved as a foster carer. This includes any offences against children and may include offences of a violent nature. All offences are looked at and the circumstances of the offence will be taken into account when considering your application.
